Delicate, North African, Middle Eastern Hamsa bracelet. This c.1950 silver tone bracelet has 5 linked, hinged panels: two with an elephant, one with a scimitar and two with turquoise-colored stone cabochons, each engraved with vivid symbolism. From the bracelet, dangles a chain with a filigree Hamsa hand amulet with two thumbs pointing up to provide protection, good fortune and a symbolic gesture of peace. The bracelet is coated with a very rich, undisturbed, velvety, natural patina and is hallmarked with a crescent moon and star.
