Vintage Lovers Cameo Porcelain & Gold-Tone Bamboo Design Pendant Brooch

Vintage, courting lovers set the scene on this delicate cameo pendant/brooch. The black and gold silhouette, painted over a glossy white porcelain, depicts a Colonial couple possibly creating an engagement. The woman or bride-to-be, dressed in the fashion finery of upper-class, Colonial America in the 1700’s, dons a traditional, brocade court dress with wide neckline and voluminous skirt (probably with a hidden corset and hoop skirt underneath) to accentuate her tiny waist.

Her suitor or fiancé-to-be is wearing a traditional waistcoat and breeches and is humbly down on bended knee before her, conceivably beseeching her for her hand in marriage. She holds coquettishly an open, hand fan, perhaps waving it back and forth to wick away her perspiration as she contemplates her decision.

The oval-shaped, cameo is bezel-set mounted in a remarkably detailed and ornate, open-backed, antique gold-tone, gilded, bamboo design edge. The convertible, cameo pendant/brooch can be worn effortlessly as a brooch on its own or as a pendant suspended from your favorite necklace with the hidden, attached bale.
