This prominent and imperial, fine silver pendant was made in Iceland, a wondrous and magnificent country of contrasts, where fire and ice co-exist and where dark winters are offset by the summer’s midnight sun. A brave and bold, Viking heroine with a regal crown on her head and a sword in her hand, rides atop a fierce dragon. This beautiful, Icelandic woman is strikingly reminiscent of Freydís Eiríksdóttir, the mythic, sword-wielding, pregnant Viking daughter of Erik the Red and Leif Erikson's sister who was written about in the Vinland sagas. Or possibly Princess Brynhildr (Brunhild), a shieldmaiden who was said to be a Valkyrie. In Viking folklore, a shieldmaiden was a woman who had chosen to fight as a warrior.
