This intriguing and whimsical, gold-tone brooch is of one of the world’s architectural marvels, Saint Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow, Russia, also called the Cathedral of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos on the Moat. Built in the 1500’s and intentionally shaped like the flame of a bonfire rising into the sky, St. Basil’s is a wondrous monument of great world architecture and one of the most popular symbols of the country. Located near the Kremlin, the formerly Russian Orthodox church has been secularized and is now a modern-day State Historical Museum and a Moscow Kremlin and Red Square UNESCO World Heritage Site.
