Vintage Guadeloupe Islands French West Indies Caribbean Unofficial National Flag Travel Shield Silver Plated Collectible Demitasse Spoon

ayquebella.com

Wonderful, vintage silver demitasse spoon with the unofficial national flag of the beautiful country of Guadeloupe, “the pearl of the French Caribbean.” The enameled, travel shield flag on the rounded spoon is derived from the coat of arms of Guadeloupe’s capital, Basse-Terre and features a red field with a golden radiant sun representing the tropical climate and a green sugar cane plant for one of Guadeloupe’s main crops, beneath a narrow, blue stripe with golden yellow fleurs-de-lis for France. The flag was designed to promote the gorgeous, French West Indian island archipelago of over a dozen islands.
